very disappointed memberMon, 10/19/2009 - 17:22 - lennonGwhat's goin on Fliptup officials? how come you guys keep extending the voting for artist of the month? it's pretty obvious that Pedro Gil has more fans than Alfa, and they proved that twice already. now it was extended again for the 3rd time? now i'm having second thoughts about the legitimacy of this site and the people who are running this. i wish you guys are not just trying to make profit by extending the voting for the "third time". either that or you guys just want Alfa to win artist of the month. please be professional guys. thank you. |

The extension of Fliptup's September AOM is to give way to the numerous requests to accommodate more SMS and online votes and give the site admin a chance to validate the legitimacy of some votes. We reassure everyone that it is not meant to cheat anyone out of a prize they deserve. There is no Politics in FliptUp, just genuine desire to help and promote Fil-Am bands.
We support all the bands and thank them for supporting Fil-Am Music. We regret that the move to extend the competition, which we hoped would be faced with enthusiasm, was instead faced with intrigue. We are sorry for all the confusion and drama this has caused. Let’s keep our spirits high and music alive.
Peace Love and Music!
I just have a few questions that need clarification:
You guys mention in your reply that you extended the voting "to give way to the numerous requests to accommodate more SMS and online votes and give the site admin a chance to validate the legitimacy of some votes."
- Why can't the admin just check the legitimacy of some votes entered before the first announced deadline?
- By extending the competition, isn't fliptup.com opening the avenue for more votes they'd have to validate?
- If the competition was for September, and fliptup.com needed to count SMS or validate legitimacy, why not close down the polls and put a note on the site stating that the September AOM will be announced soon due to the huge response?
- Extending the competition is not fair to the artists, and it divides the movement instead of uniting it; extensions are also unfair to the voters, who sign up and cast on time.
- I understand that there are no politics, etc. just love of music, but why encourage SMS voting for 99 cents and have it count as 2 votes if your system needs validation for a long period of time (October is halfway over)?
Pedro Gil (and I hear a few other bands who have been entered into this competition) had no idea that they were a part of September AOM. The only time they knew they were a part of it was when they received an email requesting they update their profile.
- Are these the votes you are checking the legitimacy of? Because if you are questioning Pedro Gil, think about this: how can these votes be illegitimate if they did not know they were a part of it in the first place? Please note that although I am a Pedro Gil supporter, I extend this question for Alfa and N.Y.F.P.
Peace! I am a fan of Fil-Am music and am trying to view whats unfolding with untainted eyes. The voting extension is not unheard of in the music scene. Red Horse Musiklaban and many contests have done it before, I don't understand the chaos around it. Why is there an investigation on legitimacy of votes? I'm thinking maybe they saw something on the vote tallies we didn't. Think about it before pouncing. They never mentioned anything about questioning PG, why bring it up?
It's sad when everyone feasts on the imperfection of others. The way I see it, the winning artists here get their due exposure in the PI, maybe its time to ask yourselves, are you the ones dividing the community?
i respect your openion Bibingka. i'm just glad it's over.
congratz Pedro Gil.
I am a huge supporter of Fil-Am music, and am deeply disappointed by the turn of events. Someone had to speak up and bring it to light.. it is not "drama" or "intrigue" as you have nonchalantly dismissed it; rather, it is exposing to the voters -- your target audience -- a process flawed and in need of better management.
Thank you.
